Carol Greenlee is the associate director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The institute seeks to foster ethical and effective conduct in politics and government; opportunity and fair treatment for people; and responsible citizenship for all Americans, especially young Americans. In her position, she works with the director to determine programming and manages program execution and day-to-day operations. She is also the chief development officer.

Carol has been an integral part of planning and implementing many of the institute’s initiatives and projects and serves as the point person for campus visits by distinguished guests.

Previously she held a leadership role with SIU Foundation overseeing board relations. Prior to joining SIU, she assisted Illinois high school students and families in navigating the process of applying to and entering college within a community relations role with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

Carol is a two-degree graduate of SIU Carbondale: She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and her Master of Science in Education.

She is a native of Southern Illinois and lives in Carterville with her husband, Sean, and their two children. She also serves on the SIU Head Start Governance Board and the SIU Credit Union Credit Committee and was selected as a 2023 Edgar Fellow.
