The Institute in 2020 published a book, Restoring American Statesmanship: A Citizen's Guide, written by Director John T. Shaw.

"This book endeavors to resurrect statesmanship from the dusty pages of history books and use it to illuminate and inspire public affairs in the United States," Shaw said.

The guide offers a working definition of statesmanship, identifies its essential qualities, provides more than a dozen examples from American history, acknowledges current barriers to statesmanship, and suggests ways to re-establish statesmanship as an aspiration in American political life.
