Mark R. Botterman, the longtime Corporate Director of Community Programs and Corporate Personnel at Emerson Electric Company, and his wife, Peggy Ramsey Botterman, established the "Peggy Ramsey Botterman and Mark R. Botterman Scholarship" in 2024. The scholarship provides financial assistance to SIU students actively involved with the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

Botterman played a key role in helping Paul Simon and Matt Baughman secure several grants from Emerson Electric Company in the Institute's early days, laying a strong foundation for its growth. With unwavering dedication to Simon and his vision for the Institute, the Bottermans chose to endow a scholarship to support students who have flourished in various roles at the Institute, including serving as Paul Simon Public Policy Student Ambassadors or participating in the Institute's internship programs.

Their generous support reflects a deep commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and promoting public service initiatives within the academic community.
